Earlier I asked: What’s the best way to deal with a possessive irrational ex. Here’s a letter he wrote me, Tell me what you think I should de, I totally feel THREATENED.

“I first want to say that I miss you and I love you and Lisa (btw: he’s referring to our daughter). I know that I made some wrong choices when I was home but at some point we have to get past that and move on with life. I know you may feel otherwise but I do love and accept Lisa as my daughter (btw he went back and forth claiming and denying her for years, she’s now 9, and has never supported her or been apart of her life). I made wrong choices based on what people told me and on things you did in the past but not based on my heart. University of Phoenix MBA vs more accredited school pros and cons.?

Please read the details. What are the pros and cons of attending University of Phoenix MBA program instead of a more traditional school. I work in business side of the IT industry. MBA is not required for any future jobs i might have so that is less of a concern for me. I work full time plan to buy a home and have children soon. Im currently employed as a Business Analyst so I dont need to worry about finding a job based on my MBA. Should I write to him now or wait until he comes back from his deployment?

The situation that I am in has caused me to feel confused, agitated, and a little depressed. So here’s my story: I met this guy named (We will call him Rick for privacy purposes). Rick so happens to be in the military. I met him while he was on leave through my best friend Nancy. We were friends for about 4 months and made it official 1 month before he left on deployment. For starters I wanna say that he is an extremely busy person not only is he involved in the military but he has his own business going on. Anywho so we decided to stay together during his deployment. Things were going well and it seemed like we would make it until 2 months into his deployment. He started becoming distant, wasn’t as attentive as he used to be, wouldn’t express how he felt about me anymore, and then it hit me. Maybe he just doesn’t like me anymore.. when he finally called me I asked him what was going on his response was that distance was kicking in and it didn’t feel like we were going out anymore. He proposed that we Pick things up when he came home I clearly told him no for I have dated someone in the military before and he told me the exact same thing and wen he got back things were WAY different. So in determination to protect my heart I told Rick that I couldn’t allow the same thing to happen with my ex all over again and that I didn’t wanna pick things up wen he came back and that I refused to be a “for later thing” because I was actually the very first girl to wait for him during a deployment and i deserved A LOT more than him throwing my love, patience and understanding back in my face like that. He sounded sad and said he understood but he still wanted to see me wen he got back and I still said no. The catch is that we broke up two days after christmas which means I had already sent him his xmas gift along with a blanket of mine(yes he asked for a blanket of mine because he miissed me) and he had already sent me his gift. This break up has hurt me A lot. even though I come off as a very strong and independent woman inside I’m hurting REALLY bad. It wasn’t until today that his sister dropped off the present he had sent me… when I opened the present tears started rolling down my face. This has made me miss him alot more. Idk if I should write him a letter thanking him for the gift or should I just wait for him to come back? plenty of my friends have said “it’s now or never” or “write him! thanking him” but honestly I’m afraid idk what to do.. the things I lived with this guy were special he meant alot to me and I was starting to fall for him. If I were truly just a “booty call” I know he wouldn’t have drove 8hours from his base to my home just to see me. Idk if I should just forget him and move on or if I should look for him. This is why I’m writting to you guys to see if you could help me figure this out. I know it may not seem like a lot to you but it means a lot to me. Thanks!

Repost: Should I ask her now or wait for more evidence?

When it comes to wives who fool around I’m in a tiny minority based on what I’ve found in this forum. I’m really not comfortable with the typical response of “kick her out” or “divorce the whore,” because I love her too much to think in those terms. And frankly the fear of losing her is worse than the idea of what she might be doing. It’s all about priorities and that’s where mine are right now…keeping the marriage intact, no matter what. For better or worse…and all that. That’s a vow too, no matter that she may have broken one as well. And this is all conjecture anyway….based on the classic signs of an unfaithful spouse. But the main one is my gut feeling. If I bring up her sexier clothes it’s because she thought I would like it. The same for the subtle, but noticeable, changes when we make love. She thought I would like her to change things up for excitement. If she is doing anything it’s far from routine. She just doesn’t have the time or opportunities to pull off a full blown affair. She does have two to four business trips a year and that would be her best chance. And it’s right after those that I notice most of the signs. I’ve been in relationships where the love dies at some point, and this is nothing like that. I would definitely know if the love between us was gone and it’s far from that. My question is should I talk to her about this now or wait until I have more concrete proof that something is going on? If I ask, she’ll tell me because she’s never shied away from the tough questions. But once I ask, and she answers, then we’re on a path I may not be ready to take. Not without a lot of preparation anyway. But I also know it has to be addressed eventually, and that’s why I’m seeking advice on the timing. Please don’t call her names or be unkind, because this is my wife…the love of my life and the girl of my dreams. She’ll be back home late this week and I’m trying to work up the nerve to discuss this with her if that’s the direction I take.
Admittedly this seems a little paranoid. And a big element of this is my gut feeling which could be wrong. I just don’t want to approach her about a possibile infidelity if it’s not happening. She’d be crushed. Thanks for all the input.
I’m very impressed with the thoughtful responses, no matter what stand they take. Giving her the benefit of the doubt is looking better all the time, but the people who say talk it out are making excellent points as well. What a dilemma.

Live in mountain town & make nothing or live in city and make what i’m worth?

I currently live in one of the best, most beautiful places in the country (if you ask me). It’s a small town of 10,000 people and most of our economy is based on ranching and tourism. I love living here as I am able to bike, hike and cross country ski out my back door. I have close friends and have made a good name for myself among the business professionals. The only problem is that good paying jobs are hard to come by. The average salary is $28,000 and the average home is around $280,000. My current salary is more than average (not by much), and my employer doesn’t provide any benefits or time off. I am getting my masters with the hope of teaching at the local college (which pays much less than any other colleges), and maybe someday my Phd to get tenure. My question is, do you live in beauty and make next to nothing, or do you live in the city and make a descent living? I would someday like to have a house and a family and not worry about living paycheck to paycheck. thoughts?

Living in Guangzhou China?

I am American going to teach ESL in Guangzhou. I have a few questions about it…

1) What is the best way of paying a student loan back home, Western Union to family or Chinese bank transfer to American bank and pay online? I hear bank transfers are hard to get done.

2) What kind of adapter for my laptop modem if needed? ADSL seems like what I would get, or could afford.

3) Base salary is 7000 RMB + 1000 housing allowance, nothing provided and have to send 1400 RMB for the student loan. So I will have 6600 RMB to live minus taxes. The school offers free lunch and dinner to teachers if working at the facility. I might be able to defer my loan with my savings for 6 months with a prepayment. I bought my home a year ago when my husbands business was doing well. It no longer is. We have almost no money left. A couple of hundred to maybe feed our two children. We had an extremely high interest on an 80/20 loan. Yes, my fault but I could care less about fault right now. Ok here is the situation.

Current position. We are a small team (4 of us) of creatives and the company has been going for a little over three years now. There are two directors and I was the 3rd employee after having done work for one of the directors for a few years. Over the past few months the morale and general feeling has continually dropped lower and lower – it has gone from me being eager to go in, to looking for every opportunity to work from home – just so I dont have to sit in the office. The problem is the directors like to visit the local pub every lunchtime and that is where they make business decisions….not the best of places! It has become more and more apparent that any ‘work’ is not wanted to be undertaken by one director, to the point where we are all unsure if what his role and responsibilities are – he is supposed to be an account handler, but does this by leaving job briefings until the last minute causing chaos and frustration (especially if the job has been knocking around for two months and on the last week he decides that this is when to brief it in).

That said, the money is ok, I get a company pension package, a bonus every year and guaranteed a pay review 12 monthly.

The ‘New’ Position. My best friend has been working for this company for six year, and I have worked there once for a year and a half and after going through some tough times (resizing from approx 40 to 6), they have now steadied the company and have remoulded the way it works, what its offering is and made it a much more viable company looking into the future. Lessons have been learned. They have a new position which I have been ‘head hunted’ to a degree (albeit with the help of my friend – unbeknown to me). The offering is a less varied roll as I would just be focusing on the companies requirements as opposed to working for multiple clients, nonetheless it would be a challenge and I would be very much involved in helping make decisions for the company in terms of strategy, promotion, identity as well as the main role which is designing and developing the website, around which the company is now based. The money is still to be discussed, but it will be in the same region, however, without bonuses or the pension plan.

I thought I had made my mind up, but my wife is unsure about the change, which has naturally thrown me into confusion and not knowing which way to proceed.

While I am not asking anyone here to make the decision for me, I would be very grateful for any helpful comments people may have. If you want to ask me any questions, then I would be only too happy to provide answers.

Thank you for the responses so far, very useful. In answer to the content of the jobs, to be honest they would be very similar, except my current job services multiple clients, whereas the new position is in effect, working one one large ongoing project, developing it further and further.

I am very interested in the new position, and up for the challenge as I feel it would be a development both in terms of career and my skill set.

Looking at the money, to clarify, the new job, while not offering the pension/bonus, would have to compensate for this within the basic salary, so you could argue that I could contribute more to my pension and have more available to save, still leaving me with the same income as what I am on now, if not a little more.

I think ultimately it is going to be a numbers game. If the new company can offer the equivalent of what I am on now (including bonus and pension contributions), if not slightly more, the decision has been made.

Can Windows Vista Premium run without Aero?

I recently ran the Windows Vista Upgrade scan,and I had my eye on Home Premium,but it says my computer’s graphic card isn’t good enough,so I am wondering if I could still install it and be fine?Or would I have a heap of problems.

Observing my parent’s businesses throughout my life has sparked my interest in wanting to become a humanly resourceful person, who can improve the workplace both physically and psychologically. Being a keen observer of their daily stresses and discovering solutions for their businesses has made me learn a great deal about how people in the workplace function. One dimension of success lies within the worker’s quality of thinking. At a young age, my work ethic has shifted from an employee’s to a manager’s perspective. I have learned that a company will survive if employees have the mindset of prioritizing the organization’s goal while managers listen and offer feedback. There were employees in my parent’s first business who didn’t have integrity which caused my parent’s business to fail. Watching them suffer for a moment, made me think of how I could improve their situation. With some introspection, I quickly learned why I was internally motivated to succeed. I believe motivation comes from pain and pleasure. I was heartbroken from seeing my parents failed at their first business and has made me what to help them with all my will. My pleasure came from seeing them not giving up and having the will to become successful with the current business they have now. I believe people are motivated by different experiences and knew that each employee needed to find a reason to be motivated. Can you visualize a United States that functioned like this? If not, why not?

– Universal flat sales tax of 10% on all retail and wholesale transactions. No income tax (unconstitutional) and no IRS. No corrupt tax bureaucracy regulating our businesses. The government isn’t supposed to run the economy, and corporations sure as hell aren’t supposed to run the government.

– Term limits on every federal legislative office. No more old boys living like princes for 40 years at their constituents’ expense and making every decision based on winning reelection instead of serving the public interest.

– A strong military that defends the United States and its borders from bases on US soil. No more overseas expeditions for nation-building, peace-keeping, and resource-grabbing at the expense of our best citizens’ lives. If there is a real coalition of nations building for a just cause and a specific end (see World War II), we may participate. No more quagmires.

– A simple and coherent trade policy of tit-for-tat. You don’t tariff our imports, we don’t tariff yours. You buy our goods, we’ll buy yours. No multi-billion dollar trade imbalances with anyone allowed. We don’t need to buy your junk; we invented the machines that manufacture it and if you don’t want to sell it to us in under a fair policy we can make it here.

– Yes, universal health care for every US citizen. I am the lead singer/vocalist in a rock/pop band, The Embezzles, (name have been changed quite a few times within the past few months)and we’re very similar to Paramore and Linkin Park. We’re sort of a big deal in East Texas with an increasing fan base which continues to grow expendably great but we have a big problem communicating and contacting fans. We’ve tried everything from Post Office boxes, Private Mailboxes and social networking sties. Unfortunately, the Postal Services are on shaky ground. Postal Services have rules and regulations to combat mail fraud and other crimes committed using postal and private mailboxes which sounds convincing but the postal services are on the wrong side here.

Rather than protecting privacy they are seeking to invade it and rather than allowing some consumer choice they are looking to stifle what little competition exists. Unfortunately, scam artists also utilize the convenience of private mailboxes to hide illegal activities, such as credit card fraud, identity theft and schemes to swindle the elderly. In other words or simple terms, P.O. boxes and Private Mailboxes are growing concerns of the postal services used in order to single out P.O. boxes and PMB(private mailboxes) who have personal accounts instead of business accounts.

We would like to have an address rather than using one of our own physical home address because you guys are aware of fans(groupies) can be a bit psychotic at times when bands are in the limelight destined for stardom. I’m having trouble with my Sims 2 games and Expansion packs? I need help from someone who knows about CC.?

Well I just downloaded the base game which is Double Deluxe, then I bought the Best of Business collection, and then the University life collection from EA games website and installed those. I just got a lot of custom content after that and put all those in the correct folder where it should be under Double Deluxe in my computer files. Then I went to get on my Sims game. The loading screen said Ikea home stuff (A stuff pack that came with University life Collection). Then I went go look at the neighborhoods and there were none. There are usually Pleasant View and the other towns that came with the game. I next went to see if my Custom Content was at least working in the Make a Sim and none of the stuff I downloaded was there. This is the second time I opened the game so I did enable Custom Content.

Basically I’m asking how can I switch it back to Double Deluxe and still keep the expansion packs on it, and why is my Custom Content (Downloads) not working. Only a few showed up. Is it because it’s not on Double Deluxe where I put them. Because that’s where I have the Downloads folder.

I think the right thing to do is end this thing about us being an empire around the world. Lets close a couple of bases and bring those troops home. Lets stop giving money to other nations. We are broke remember and lets get people off of section 8 housing, Medicaid, SSI and Wic so that we can repay the money we took from those programs. Yesturday afternoon a massive tornado struck Cleavland Street, a street with a lot of businesses and homes on it, destroying everything in it’s path. This tornado was actually one of three reported. The Weather Bureau first became concerned after seeing the temperature was at 70 degrees, which was unseasonalbly warm for this time of the year, along with moisture buildup in the air. These conditions were just right for a tornado to strike. At two o’ clock a tornado warning was issued. At three p.m after several reports of funnel clouds, another tornado warning was issued. Finally at 3:33 a tornado formed and hit Cleavland Street. This cyclone destroyed several businesses and homes, including that of Mayor Robert T. Mellon. Only one death was reported but at least four people had to go to the hospital due to injuries both serious and minor. The amount of damage done by the tornado is approximatly $150,000. “Its amazing that all this damage was done in less than two minutes” said the cheif of police

Culinary Question….the industry?

Words cannot explain how excited I am to end high school. SE110RS! There are so many douche lords, and rude ignorant people, that I just cannot live in that environment. The field I am interested in is Baking and Pastry Arts. And I mean come on. Pastry Chefs always get the last say. Sure, you can eat a nice steak an potato dinner, but how about ending off that meal with a warm dark chocolate lava cake, oozing a smooth milk chocolate sauce, covered by a rich, decadent caramel sauce, and parted along side a cold french vanilla bean ice cream scoop…? Incredibly delicious… I have so much drive and passion for this I can just taste it at the tip of my tongue. I even run my own cake making business at home, and its an amazing experience! Being blessed with such a talent, and being able to cook and bring joy to people….love it. My goal is to eventually open up an upscale cafe/bakery bistro/cake shop. But the thing is most schools only offer Associates in Pastry Arts, and I want to get more out of this than just a measly A.S. degree. So you experienced chefs out there, whats your recommendation. I REALLY want my main focus to be on pastry arts….And I only am based im Chicago, so going out of state is a no go….too expensive for our budget. I mean, do I get a bachelors in business and hosp. management…or go full out culinary…im at a loss.

I imagine France will have pretty much the same tax laws on this as the UK.

Im working on my application to undergrad business school for a degree in finance accounting or economics. I know that in bussiness pedigree is very important but unfortunately money is somewhat tight and I don’t know if im really ready to go away. As a result I feel that I will do better in my state school of UF or at university of miami which will probably give me a good scholarship plus I can live at home further lowering expenses. I could probably get into Stern in new York or UVA or emory but I think I will end up doing worse at these schools because of stress about money and homesickness. So basically my question is am I better off in the bussiness world as an excellent student at a mediocre school or a mediocre student at an excellent school. Plus I want to work in florida so the alumni base is probably larger than at an out of state school. All we want is to build a connection with our fans in order to solidify our relationships to remind them of upcoming tour dates, nearby performances, or any updates we might have in order to refresh the memories of our fans.

We were recommended on some international mail forwarding service sites but getting an international P.O. or Private box seems a little suspect, wouldn’t you agree? Although they offer great services they only require your personal information….sometimes to much information. I have scavenged many postal services sites and some websites seem a bit puzzling. Even though they have U.S. Postal Forms and identification requirements they false advertise and some sites even have numerous complaints from previous customers. If I were to come across one of these misleading websites how would I be able to recognize a true and faithful postal or forwarding service from any other website posing as a legit mail forwarding service? Are there any services that allows you to apply online if so this would be my first option to cut out the hassle and run around the postal services have been giving us.

Which hospital job should I pursue? Medical Records or Hospital Unit Clerk, Billing, Nursing, etc…?

I was thinking of taking either the “Hospital Unit Clerk” or the “Medical Records Clerk” course which focuses on compiling, processing, and maintaining medical records of hospital & clinic patients. I would also take an “Electronic Health Records” course which teaches the theory & hands-on application needed to work in todays medical office. I was considering the “Central Sterile Technician” course, but it seems that Surgical Technicians primarily hold these jobs.

After completing the above, I would then pursue either the “Medical Transcriptionist” or the “Medical Coding Certificate”. Both are online courses through the school, and require an internship. I felt this field would be the best choice based on my previous experience. Although I have not worked in a medical office I was a Project Manager for Fedex Kinkos for over three years. I have strong “business/office” skills, and am a very detail-oriented, organized individual.

There is also a “Certified CNA” course & a “Home Caregiver Program”, and I would take both. I was thinking of pursuing the Practical Nurse program next fall, since I would only need 9 classes. However, I don’t know if I can handle collecting blood or administering IV’s, if required. For some reason, the idea has always bothered me. However, I know I could earn more as an LPN, and maybe this fear of “pricking others” would pass.

What would your advice be? I am seeking a position that is in demand, and pays at least 30K. Should I take the Hospital Unit Clerk or the Medical Records Clerk course, and then take Medical Coding or Medical Transcription. Or should I continue to consider the LPN route. Honestly, I would be happiest in an office environment doing clerical tasks.
Or should I perhaps consider the Medical Assistant program, instead of the Medical Coding certificate. What would look better to a potential employer, and is the earning potential the same?

An acquaintance wrote this and I thought I would put it out there to see what people’s opinions are of this bill.
I have been challenged with explain exactly “What is Cap and Trade” and I am amazed that very few people that I know has any idea what is in this magical black box. Since this bill has passed the House and is soon to be voted on in the Senate, I would like to make my best effort to explain what it is.
Specifics and formulas have not been worked out to my knowledge so the examples below are not to be taken face value but should get you pointed in the right direction.
Every individual in the United States will be given a set value of acceptable carbon footprint. Every function whether it is purifying water, keeping your house cool, driving your car uses energy. Energy usage through mathematical formulas can be converted in to carbon output. For example, water is pumped from Lake Meade, sent Through processors and filters. Chemicals are added and the water is pumped to your home or business. The pumps from the lake take energy, the processors take energy, the chemical factories use energy to produce the chemical, the water is used and has to be treated back to its original state. The byproduct of all this energy is carbon.
Now we get down to how this is applied to you and your life. Every household will be monitored as to how much power, water, waste, gas, fuel…..to determine if they are over or under their allotted carbon footprint. Believe me the values are not high for example: Water usage-Showers not to exceed 3 minutes per day using a low flow shower head. Flushes using a low flow toilet to be limited to a set number per member per day. Dishwashers, baths, and normal laundry, landscaping and swimming pools will put you over your limit. Let’s just consider them luxury items and you have to pay more for using them.
Electricity gets a little more complicated but follows the same principal. Every household will be allotted so much electricity per resident. The value will be set around 250 square feet of living space per person living in the residence. So a family of four will be allotted 1,000 S.F. of living space and the electricity to light it using energy efficient lighting a limited number of hours per day, air conditioning or heating to climate control the living space at 860F in the summer and 670F in the winter a limited number of hours per day. They will probably throw in 3 hours of TV and some power for small appliances.
Your car, you will be allotted a certain number of miles to drive per week and they will be based on average commute to and from work along with a few errands and necessary trips. If you go over your miles, then you will have to buy carbon credits.
Now, who is going to determine your allotted carbon footprint? The government will and they will also monitor it. So you can save some carbon credits here and spend some there but at the end of the year, you will have to square the account to zero.
Where will you buy carbon credits? Not everybody has a car, air conditioning, 250s.f. per resident and they will have carbon credits left over. Now you just have to buy them. Another example: An inter-city mother of 4 children living in a 550s.f. apartment with no electricity and no daily commute will have ample carbon credits left over and she can sell them to an exchange. We will purchase them from an exchange along with a processing or administrative fee to the exchange.
The intent of the Cap and Trade Bill is the following:
People and individuals who have excessive carbon footprints as determined by the Federal Government will have to make every effort to reduce their standards of living or pay a yearly fee (tax) to keep it. Public transportation is one way to conserve, using public restrooms, laundry facilities, city pools….
The second is that less fortunate households, with many members living under one roof, will have a commodity that they can sell to the more fortunate citizens….otherwise known as “Trickle-Up Economics” or “Redistribution of Wealth.”

If this is so, what do you think is right or wrong? What do you think is fair or unfair? Do you think our government has any place stepping in to your life in such a way? Do you view this as intrusion? How much do you think that implementing something like this would cost?

-This was tricky. Statute has great bodily harm = felony 3rd degree..(causes horse to be put down, but did not kill the horse while crime was committed), OR bodily harm = misdemeanor 1st degree…(harmed the horse, horse broke its own leg?), and/or pay restitution for replacement horse.
